and surrounding beaches

Exmouth has a mainly flat access from the town to the beach and nearly all the footpaths have gently slopped kerbs.

BEACH DOG BANS
(Except dogs in the charge of a registered blind person)

Between Maer Rocks and Octagon. Refreshment kiosk. 1st May - 30th September

From the 1st of May, until the end of September only the 2 ends of the beach are for dogs (in winter all the beach is available)

The mian centre part of the beach is Dog free (during the dates above) but on both ends its ok for dogs the whole year. That is the Marina end of the beach to the Octogon cafe on the beach, near the Deer's Leap pub.
And the last few metres near Orcombe Point (the cliff end) it continues around the corner to the small beach, the best place for dogs, its also a lovely cove to sit for children to play.
After the next small headland is Sandy Bay beach, a long beach with the Holiday camp at the other end, Where NO dogs are allowed, No dog access at the Sandy Bay end for dogs.
But at the top of the cliffs is a lovely walk to sandy bay on top of the cliffs, Please have dogs on the lead as it passes farm land,

The Exmouth beach has slopes at the Orcombe point end (near cliff) down to the beach. At the Middle next to the Harbour view cafe (near the Inshore Lifeboat Station) there is a wide slope and the beach is flat and access good.

Imperial recreation Ground is a large grass area and at low tide on the Estuary a huge area of sand (take care in cetain areas see below). Imperial recreation Ground. A large grassy area behind the railway Station/Sports centre, please take care on the Estuary when the tide is out as there is broken glass near the grassy edge (it was a former tip) but it is clean and just a few yards further out there is lovely sand towards the River to walk on. (Please don't walk on the part near the sports Centre as it can sink.)

The River Exe has access from the Imperial Recreation Ground (near the railway station) Left to the corner where the sea meets the river when the tide is out.

Or the start of the walk to Lympstone, a great walk, part of it can be also on the river bed when the tide is out.

A gentle remainder, please carry more than one bag for you to clean up after your dog, It's important to help to keep these areas for Dogs to run on. 99% or more people do look and clean up. There have been calls to make the whole beach a non-dog area. So please clean up for all users. Thank you very much. There are East Devon Dog Wardens around with instant fines or Court visits.
