Royal Humane Society award winners at Exmouth
On Monday for Council meeting at 7.30pm here was a presentation
to three men who helped with the rescue after the Paddington Line Rail crash last year. Three men were last night rewarded for their bravery in the aftermath of last November's Berkshire rail crash. All were commended for going back into the carriage, where they helped others, despite the risk to their own safety.

Two Royal Marines and a local salesman received the Royal Humane Society Awards at a special ceremony at Exmouth Town Hall for their selfless actions that helped to save the lives of others, while putting their own lives at risk, after the crash.

Royal Marine Company Sergeant Major (CSM) Tom McPhee and Brian Kemsley, a salesman, received bronze medals for their actions, while Warrant Officer Bruce Riach, also a Royal Marine, was presented with an honorary testament.

CSM McPhee was credited with saving the lifeof two people, one sadly died later. The 34-year-old marine had been returning home to Exmouth with his friend Brian Kemsley, 35.

In November 2004 the three had where passengers on the Paddington to Plymouth train, which derailed killing seven.

Well done to them, as our Mayor Cllr. Eileen Wragg said: "I wonder how people would do the same as these courageous men if they found themselves in a similar situation? would some of us walk away?, They were very brave."

Greg Caygill, (photographer/webmaster adds:) They where brave, i think it came as second nature to these men, who saw danger but they put themselves in danger, they was even oil spraying out, a possible fire rish, and it was only after 1, 1/2 hours, up to 2 hours later after helping others, that they went to sort their own medical help.

If you are family of the above I have large size photos have you are welcome to have.
